Books That Warm The Hearts Of Young And Old

"Jan Karon...reflects contemporary culture more fully than almost any living novelist."

-The Los Angeles Times

Anyone familiar with Jan Karon's nine best-selling Mitford novels will agree: Her books have defined the American small town as no other contemporary author has done. Like the English village novel, which long ago established its own popular genre, Karon's Mitford series has pioneered a new and exciting genre in American fiction.

Now the final novel in the Mitford series, "Light From Heaven" (Penguin), has come out in paperback. "Light From Heaven" will answer the questions Jan's readers have asked since the series began: Will Father Tim find all of Dooley's siblings? How will Father Tim find the right moment to tell Dooley about his inheritance? What will Dooley do with his inheritance? Will Edith Mallory recover and what will her first words be? The novel will surely delight old and new readers who are happy to take one last trip to Mitford.

For those who would like to go back to the beginning of the journey, "The Mitford Bedside Companion" is an enchanting collection. With its black-and-white line drawings throughout, a four-color, eight-page insert of never-before-seen family photos, along with introductions to the chapters and original essays by Jan, the collection makes a delightful gift.

Also out is Karon's "Violet Comes To Stay (Viking Children's Books), the first in a series of children's books based on the work of Cynthia Coppersmith, a fictional character in Jan Karon's Mitford novels. The story centers around Violet, a green-eyed white cat made famous in the Mitford series. Beautifully illustrated, this timeless tale follows the endearing white kitten on her hunt for a perfect home.

An actual storybook written by a fictional character, "Violet Comes to Stay" gives voice to a favorite Mitford character and will introduce a whole legion of young fans to the Mitford series.

All three books are at bookstores across the country.

Welcome home, Mitford fans-the best of Jan Karon's nine Mitford books are now under one cover.
